Independence Day Celebration

The Independence Day festivities started out around 4:00pm… Oops, I missed something… The festivities started out at 9:30am as the breakfast bell rang calling everyone to an extremely delicious waffle breakfast, loaded with strawberry sauce and whipped cream. WOW! Thank you Jessica! Then various ones of us cleaned up the house, played games, sat around and read, prepared for an evening with Jeremy and Sara, and oh yes, some did find sleeping the activity of choice (not me). Then around 11:00am the plans changed, because the Savinos (our next-door neighbors) invited us over for a cook-out that evening with a bunch of their friends and relatives. So around 4:00pm we headed over there. Dinner was great! There was more food than you can imagine, and their ENTIRE dinner table was covered with desserts! BTW: they have 11 kids, so the table wasn’t small either. The food was great, but not to be ignored were the fireworks that evening. Around 9:00pm we headed to Sharon WI, where we prepared a spot on the lawn as close as we could get to where the fireworks would be launched.

Then the show began:

It was really neat; the fireworks were almost directly over our heads! The grand finale was absolutely amazing, there were probably 5 fireworks a second for about a whole minute! I think I can safely say that this was the best firework show that I have ever been to.

After this we headed back to the Savino’s around 10:30pm where the real fun started with a home made firework show put on by Matt and Tony Savino, Jeff Nye, and Phil Newhouse.

Phil launching fireworks with a flare in his mouth.

Sparklers for everyone!

WOW!

More Fireworks!!!

Then around 12:30am the show ended with an incredible grand finale.
(Hopefully I will have a video of this Grand Finale available soon).

Thanks so much Savinos for the wonderful evening!

Jonathan,

Did you take those fireworks photos with a tripod? I have a "fireworks setting" on my camera, but haven't had the chance to use it. I like your photos... Have you seen the ones I took on our recent MN/WI vacation?

Ryan,

No I didn't use a tripod, what I did was set the apature to somewhere in the f4-f5 range, and set the shutter to 1/40sec. I was able to get quite a few cool firework shots with it.

Miss Grimes,

It's illegal near us also, but as John Adams appointed, this is how we are supposed to remember independance day, so I don't care what they say.

Come on down to Missouri. It is very legal to do fireworks here.
